The
Artist
Kathy
Gold is a science fiction and fantasy digital artist and storyteller.
Her art, created using computer software, is designed to tell
a story, whether it’s part of a series or a single work.
The vibrant colors, playfulness and futuristic feel to her designs
is in part inspired by Japanese anime and manga. Additional influences
include pop culture mythology such as Star Wars, The Matrix, and
other science fiction and fantasy screen epics.
Kathy
was born in Budapest, Hungary and immigrated to the United States
at age 6. As an only child and new to this country, it was difficult
for Kathy to make new friends. Shy and introverted, she turned
to her imagination and creativity as an outlet to express her
feelings. Besides writing, acting and singing, Kathy also painted
with oils, mainly landscapes.
At the
age of 8, Kathy applied to a performing arts school for entry.
In her interview for acceptance to the school, her assignment
was to paint a bowl of fruit. Kathy’s parents were told
the school would get back to them, but they never did. Months
later, somehow one of her paintings got included in the family’s
garage sale. Kathy’s mother ended up selling that painting.
Rejected by the performing arts school and with her precious painting
sold, Kathy vowed never to paint again.
Yet,
through the years, Kathy was always involved in some creative
project in one form or another. Kathy sang in a rock band and
published poetry. For many years, she was a successful Internet
marketing consultant and web designer. But her main passion eluded
her, storytelling.
After
much research, Kathy decided the best media to tell her stories
were graphic novels/comic books. A self taught artist, she used
Photoshop and Poser software to create her digital graphic novel.
While
going through the process of creating a graphic novel from scratch,
Kathy rediscovered her love of creating art. “I love to
create art, I could do it 24/7 and it still wouldn’t be
enough,” she says.
16x20 and
11x17 prints can be purchased online.

Artwork featured
in books:
My
artwork "Deadly Seduction" is featured in "They
Bite" Endless Cravings of Supernatural Predators. It's
in chapter 7 under they deceive tricksters and seducers.
My
artwork "Outside Sanctuary" is featured in "THE
CRYPTOPEDIA: A Dictionary of the Weird, Strange, and Downright
Bizarre" It's in chapter 3 Demons & Angels.
It depicts Eloa - Angel of Compassion & Sorrow.
This is a cool dictionary, it has a list of angels and under Eloa,
it says: According to some medieval Christian beliefs, Eloa was
created from a tear that Jesus shed in the Garden of Gethsemane
before his arrest. She is both the angel of sorrow (for Jesus
was betrayed by a close friend) and compassion. Eloa is invoked
by those who need help in starting their lives over again. This
is just too cool :)
